Happy birthday to me!

Yesterday my wonderful wife gave me an iPod Classic 120GB for my birthday! Joyce and Jenn gave me a Best Buy gift card which I used to purchase a silicon cover w/ screen protector for the iPod. Jenn said that the screen scratches easily and polished back gets dents and dings from regular use. So, cover my ass (so to speak)...

After charging all night (the instructions said ~4 hrs the first time) I've been trying to find something that will sync my music to it other than iTunes. Windows Media Player and Audials would only see it as an external drive and music loaded this way won't play. So, until I get up the gumption to hack the thing and put Rockbox on it, I ended up instaling iTunes. Blah!

My computer may never forgive me...

PS
Tomorrow "Dave's Garage" is going to play on Center Stage at Sparks Music! Now, we're just a bunch of amateurs, mind you, but Larry, Dave, Richard and I are going to be acting like teenage rock stars! Actually, we'll just do a couple of songs for friends and family and, hopefully, I won't drop any clunkers! I'm praying (wishful thinking) that someone will get it on video for me. I'd love to send it to my kids!

Vocal hit

You would NOT believe how much fun my new vocal processor is! Last Friday night I took it over to Dave's for the Friday night jam. Richard, our drummer, has always wanted to do background vocals (harmony, call/response, etc.) but was a bit shy. Once he expressed this desire I started bringing a mic and boom stand. It was a bit awkward as it had to be sufficiently off to the side so that he didn't hit it while playing. Then he showed up one night with a headset mic and that worked much better for him. Even though really wanted to, he was still just a bit shy about his voice.

Well, all that changed when I showed up with the vocal processor. Not only did he love it, but Larry (lead guitar) and Dave (rhythm guitar) liked the harmony effects it did. Between every song (and I do mean EVERY song) they kept asking him to use it in silly ways. Like "Say 'Muhahaha...' ", "sing like a girl" and the likes. What a kick!

Then the following Monday was my turn. I took it down to Sparks Music and used it to back up Marguerite, our lead singer. Again, this really blew everybody's mind. After our session they all took turns talking and singing into the mic, laughing their butts off the whole time!

Next on the agenda: Digitech Vocalist Live for Dave. Then, maybe, he'll actually sing! Hahaha...
