OMG! I won the bid for a TC Helicon VoiceWorks Vocal Harmony Processor on eBay for only $255!!! These things normally sell for $500. There were only 5 bids on it so I guess yesterday was my lucky day. I had set my sniping program for a maximum of $300, which is a bit less than I felt I should have bid. But I was watching several auctions for this item and figured I'd probably be buying one new around March if I didn't win. But I DID win!

I can't wait to start using it (as well as others who've heard me sing). I've often struggled with my voice. Usually I just can't maintain the key, but this thing will end that. It's the top of the line when it comes to vocal processors. Check out this blurb from their web site:

This popular harmony processor has been used by songwriters, performing musicians, and jingle and movie music creators to put their creative stamp on vocals. VoiceWorks has a full complement of vocal processing tools from microphone preamp to four voices of harmony generation, pitch correction, reverb and tap tempo delay, compression and EQ. There’s even a song mode that allows you to step through a pre-programmed series of steps with the optional Switch3 footswitch.

•A complete signal path from mic input to stereo output. All you add is a PA, (or DAW) and your voice.
•Capable of creating up to 5 part harmony or doubling with your voice
•Harmonies can be controlled by MIDI keyboard or by setting key and scale
•100 user-programmable presets
•Reverb and delay can be used simultaneously and have extensive editing parameters
•Thicken effect adds lush detune-style chorusing to your lead vocal in addition to other effects
•Compressor, 3 band EQ and gate
•Editor program for Mac and PC available free via download

Sidelined

Well, I tried the Sidelines jam session tonight. Richard (my drummer) joined me, but we were both disappointed to find out that it was "jazz night" instead of the rock/blues we were expecting. I have to take the blame for this, as it was me that didn't research it sufficiently.
What I'd been led to believe was that the 3rd St. Blues (bar) had a jam on Tuesday and that Sidelines (bar & grill?) had a jam on Thursday. This was not the case. If you're a jazz fan, then Sidelines is where you want to be on Thursday night. But, be prepared for smoke as they don't sell any food and, thus, allow smoking (yuk!)
However, I was informed that the host band, First Take, also does a jam session over at the new Jazz restaurant by Sheel's. This is a no-smoking venue, so once I get up the gumption to try Jazz again, this is probably where I'll do it.
Richard was a trooper and stayed well into the first set. The music was great and the band was tight, but Jazz just isn't his cup of tea. In fact, it's not quite mine, either, but I had signed up to play, so I stayed and had a couple doses of liquid courage. Unfortunately, it took all night long to get my shot. And I do mean ALL DAMN NIGHT! I would have left with Richard had I known that they'd call me up for the SECOND TO LAST song!!!
None-the-less, it was something to chalk up to experience. At least it wasn't "fusion" Jazz. I just can't make any sense of that sutff.
